Resident Evil Franchise Has Reached 88 Million Copies Shipped Since 1996
Time: Jan. 29, 2019The new Resident Evil 2 Steam Key remake for PS4, Xbox One and PC is a great success. Capcom announced that the game had sold to 3 million copies worldwide during its first week.
Capcom also announced that the entire Resident Evil franchise has delivered 88 million units since its debut in 1996. In addition, the sales performance of Resident Evil 7 has been updated, confirming that it has reached 6 million copies shipped.
By way of comparison: the original Resident Evil 2 of 1998 reached 4.96 million in sales during its useful life. A great introductory week for Remake was not a surprise, since the exclusive "1-Shot Demo" of the game generated 4.7 million downloads. Capcom is convinced that the new version of Resident Evil 2 Steam Key will continue to sell well. The company believes that the remake can take advantage of the type of "long-term sale" that Resident Evil 7 has achieved.
Looking to the future,Resident Evil 2's new Ghost Survivors DLC is free and will launch on February 15. The Resident Evil 2 Resident of GameSpot described it as "a terrifying experience like no other".
